Job Summary:

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Machinist with experience setting up and operating a variety of milling machines to mill flat or curved surfaces on metal workpieces by performing the responsibilities listed below. Responsible for setting up and operating Multi-Axis CNC Machining Centers. Must be familiar with Fanuc Controls. Must be proficient at all types of machining center processing. Must be able to complete set-up and machining operations from blueprints, drawings, models and/or verbal instructions. Must have experience with complex, tight tolerance parts and various materials.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Select and utilize standard gauges to ensure quality
  • Comfortable using all tool types and adjusting speed and feed parameters for maximum tool life. 
  • Able to manufacture fixture tooling from concepts and improve existing fixtures.
  • Meets expectations for productivity. 
  • Makes regular suggestions to improve the current process and offer alternative processes to improve production. 
  • Achieves maximum utilization out of the equipment and reports weekly to lead on process improvement suggestions. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Has knowledge and understanding of CNC Milling Operations, setups, setting tool offsets, and work offsets
  • Read and understand all drawing criteria, GD&T, notes and tolerances
  • Set-up tools, tool offsets and work offsets - Speed and Feed changes, program review and dry run, minor edits

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Requirements:

Hours

  • Ability to work 2nd shift hours, and overtime as needed.

Controls

  • Familiarity with Siemens, Haas and Okuma Controls is preferred

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.  
  • Ability to speak effectively.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MRP Manufacturing, UltiPro Payroll systems, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook software. 
  • Programming experience relative to understanding program coding and interpreting programs.
