Job Summary:

Kairos Power, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Grant Compliance Manager to work in the Finance Department and be responsible for leading government grant and contract management including accounting, reporting, invoicing, and indirect cost rate management.  This position actively collaborates with Principal Investigators and Project Managers to monitor and manage grants, government contracts, and related compliance.  Manages allowable costs in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other applicable regulations and contract terms.   Must have expertise in GAAP, FAR, CAS and DCAA indirect rate calculation and submission, SAM administration, and grant subrecipient program requirements. This position can be located at our San Francisco Bay Area headquarters or Albuquerque, NM location. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide direct support for cooperative agreements (government grant cost share cost recovery) and government contracts as prime and subrecipient
  • Work cross functionally with Project Managers, Principal Investigators, and Procurement to ensure grant and contract terms compliance, including subrecipient requirements
  • Advise on and implement policies and procedures related directly to government grants and contracts
  • Oversee and provide guidance on cost allowability matters, compliance with FAR, CAS and other applicable regulations
  • Calculate indirect rates and oversee annual submission
  • Evaluate and verify cost compliance in accordance with contractual requirements and all Government regulations
  • Lead government audit preparation, execution and report issuance; audit scope includes provisional indirect rates, actual indirect rates and true up
  • Manage all subrecipient requirements, including subrecipient/subcontractor determination
  • Prepare internal and external reporting in accordance with contract terms and compliance with FAR
  • Support negotiation activities, including grant terms evaluations
  • Prepare and submit invoices for all types of government contracts to include: Cost reimbursable, time and material, progress payments, and firm fixed price
  • Identify unallowable cost according to government rules and/or contract terms
  • Review government travel for FAR & travel policy compliance
  • Review time-tracking for compliance with FAR and CAS
  • Ensure proper coding of all government-related transactions in accounting system
  • Support month end close, general ledger accounting including account reconciliations and journal entry posting for government contracts
  • Ensure government property is handled according to contractual requirements and government regulations
  • Maintain SAM registration
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Accounting or related field or the equivalent business-experience
  • Minimum of 8 years work experience in an accounting environment
  • Experience in DCAA audit or public accounting in government compliance practice preferred
  • Direct experience in indirect rate calculation and submission
  • Experience working in project organization
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and have solid working experience with accounting and project management systems
  • Working knowledge of government grants (cooperative agreements) and/or government contracts is required
  • Able to work independently and deliver on time; highly organized; provide accurate results
  • Expertise at a level high enough to advise subordinates, peers, managers, and executives on compliance regulations, with strong, effective communication skills
  • Capable of quickly absorbing new information and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical/problem solving – ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner
