Common Questions

When can I apply for an internship or a co-op?

Internships are posted in the Fall and applicants are encouraged to apply early for consideration. Co-ops are posted year-round. Please check the Kairos Power Career page regularly for co-op opportunities.

When do internships and co-ops start?

Internships start in May or June, depending on the intern’s academic schedule. Start dates for co-ops depend on academic schedule and business needs.

How long are internships and co-ops?

Internships typically span 12 weeks and have a minimum commitment of 10 weeks to ensure you get the most out of your internship experience at Kairos Power. The duration of co-ops will vary based on co-op availability and business needs.

Who is eligible to apply for an internship and co-ops?

Students who are currently enrolled in a degreed academic program are eligible to apply. Specialized roles will require completion of specific coursework to be considered.

Do you hire non-U.S. persons or students with visas?

Kairos Power is subject to 10 CFR Part 810 Assistance to Foreign Atomic Energy activities. Kairos Power is open to providing employment sponsorship for specific roles to foreign nationals from generally authorized destinations.

Will relocation assistance be provided to non-local interns or co-ops?

Kairos Power will provide a relocation stipend to interns or co-ops based on eligibility. Per IRS relocation guidelines, the college and residence of interns and co-ops must be greater than 50 miles from the designated work location.

Are Kairos Power internships and co-ops paid?

All our internships and co-ops are paid. We do not currently offer unpaid internships and co-ops. Rate of pay will differ based on education level, location, and job function.

What does the interview process look like?

All candidates must apply to be considered. Recruiters will review applicants and reach out to schedule a recruiter interview via Zoom. Candidate profiles will then be shared with hiring managers for consideration. Additional interviews will be scheduled for candidates who continue in the process.

When can I expect to hear back after applying?

Expect to hear back from our recruitment team 2-4 weeks after you submit your application. If you do not hear back from us before 4 weeks, you are still in consideration.

What majors does Kairos Power hire for?

We seek interns and co-ops from a variety of engineering and non-engineering backgrounds, including but not limited to mechanical, nuclear, electrical, manufacturing, environmental, chemical, materials, physics, computer science, civil engineering, business, accounting, human resources, environmental health & safety, and other business operations related majors.

Which locations have internship or co-op opportunities?

  • Limited and specific openings in Charlotte, North Carolina; Rexford, New York; and remote
