Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Engineering Design, the Lead Engineer, Plant Operations will lead the development of an operational program for the KP-FHR and supporting test facilities. The Lead Engineer, Plant Operations is an expert-level figure who will work in close collaboration with systems, nuclear, mechanical, electrical and I&C engineering leads.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Owns Plant Requirements of operational nature and delivers solutions to meet such requirements;
  • Develops plant operation plans and procedures;
  • Develops plant maintenance plans and procedures;
  • Develops operators training and qualification plans and procedures;
  • Contributes to plant simulators development;
  • Contributes to plant emergency planning and security planning;
  • Contributes to Human Factors Engineering areas such as operator tasks analysis, human-system interfaces development, validation and verification plans for human factors engineering. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or closely related scientific discipline. Proven related and long-standing experience may offset academic requirements.
  • 7 years of relevant experience and progressively increasing responsibilities in Power Plant Operations and/or Maintenance. 
  • Knowledge of nuclear reactor dynamics and heat transfer processes.
  • Knowledge of nuclear reactors design philosophies and solutions. 
  • Prior exposure to advisory, relationship, and stakeholder management in a small / start-up environment
  • Ability to earn the trust of team members and management 
  • Team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or closely related scientific discipline. Proven releated and long-standing experience may offset some academic requirements.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, currently at the senior or principal engineer level, in Power Plant Operations and/or Maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of nuclear reactor dynamics and heat transfer processes.
  • Working knowledge of advanced nuclear reactors design philosophies and solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with advisory, relationship, and stakeholder management in a small / start-up environment
  • Demonstrated ability to earn the trust of team members and management 
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills.
